Subject:  This Is My Network

James 5:16 - "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

You’ve seen the Verizon commercials I’m sure.  One person is walking around with an entourage of personnel with cables and satellite dishes and lots of gadgets to support Verizon’s communications infrastructure.  Eventually the person is asked by someone, “who are all of those people?”  And the person responds, “oh, that’s my network.”  That’s how I feel with the group of people called The Big 3.  “The Big 3” network began about five years ago when I was going through a particularly difficult time in my life.  Today I see that all of those circumstances were quite necessary to teach me a lesson about the effectual and fervent prayers of God’s people and how God builds a network.

Think for a second how he does it.  I grew up in “small-town” Texas.  The city was about 3,000 people.  Now almost 30 years since I left that small town to venture off to college, I have my childhood friend Bruce Davis on The Big3 Network.  While in college I dated not only my current wife, but also a friend named Peri.  Who knew that 20+ years later that they would both be interceding to God on the same matters?  What about Susan?  I met Susan online and have since had her visit me in Texas and Virginia and she now serves as the Big3 prayer coordinator.  Maestro I met in Japan only to realize that we grew up about 30 minutes from each other.  Who knew that we would be locked into ministry for God for life?  There’s Shawn and Wayne, Rusty and Leah, Kea and Kym and simply a whole host of people that have come together to form a network of believers.

From cousins, family and friends to former pastors and co-workers and “chance” acquaintances, and that doesn’t even mention what I call my second family, The Johns, God has provided me with a network that can provide communication and power beyond anything that Verizon could’ve ever thought of.

Today, don’t take people for granted.  God is building your spiritual infrastructure by putting you in touch with people.  These people are your network.  Mine is called The Big3 and I thank God for them and particularly today.  To the Big3, words can’t express and there isn’t enough money to show what you mean to me.  Thanks for all of the prayers and love over the years.
