Subject:  Keep The Grass Cut

Psalm 92:7  "When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:"

I was cutting the grass at our church last week and it was getting late.  I wanted to finish as much as possible and realized that part of it was going to have to go undone until next time.  I mowed the front of the church, the side of the church, then as I rounded the backside, I was trying to decide how much to do.  I looked at a large area covered with a lot of leaves and set my eyes upon the swing-set area where my children go every Sunday after church to play on the swings.  As I surveyed the area, I immediately thought to myself, "I have to cut the area by the swings because that grass is too high and there could be snakes in that grass and my children play over there."  That speaks volumes about what we will do when we have a vested interest in something.

We should have the same view of the world in which we've been placed.  The grass of the world continues to grow as this world system keeps planting seeds.  We should have a vested interest in cutting the grass of this world.  We don't have a vested interest solely for our children's sake, but for all of those whom God places in our path.  We want to cut the grass because we know that there are snakes in this world and our friends, relatives, neighbors and others may not see them because the "grass" in their lives might be too high.

Today we have lots of reasons to keep the grass cut, but if you need one good one, remember, that's where your children play.
