Subject:  Simple As A Horse

Psalm 27:4 "One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple."

We now have a few different pastures that we use to allow our horses to graze.  The correct way to move the horses from one pasture to another is to attach a lead rope on the horses and gently guide them from one place to another.  However, I'm often in a rush to get somewhere and I need to move them quickly so I'll usually get a small amount of feed, let them sniff what I have in my hand and then open the gate and walk or run wherever I want them to go and sure enough, they follow right after.  I did this yesterday and in about ten seconds I moved them across the road and into their stable without any rope or even touching them.  I thought to myself, "you horses are so simple."

After that statement I immediately thought how sometimes Satan must say the same thing about us.  How many times does he let us take a sniff of his offerings and then we run swiftly after them?

God's Holy Spirit guides us from pasture to pasture, but Satan would prefer that we go on our own way without being led by the Spirit.  The danger of going our own way is like the horses, we are uncontrolled and will in the end  find ourselves some place other than the place we need to be.

Today, make sure that you always end up in the right stable.  That's God's stable.  That will happen when you diligently seek after Him.  Running freely after everything you see, smell or hear makes one as simple as a horse.
