Subject:  Because Politics Is Social

Psalm 135:17-18 "They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths  They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them."

Last night another candidate's forum was held in the Waller Independent School District.  I happen to be running for a position on the school's Board of Trustees so I was there with my talking points.  My biggest talking point: We've got to talk.

Waller County has somewhat of a history of ugly politics and its related to race.  In the past this has prevented the free flow of ideas and solutions that are quite necessary for the environment in which politicians can come up with the best solutions for the people whom they serve.  Last night, these issues were discussed and in a very meaningful way.  With black and white candidates seated side by side, we discussed how race has been used as a wedge issue for many years.  Of course simply talking about it doesn't make it go away, but it is a start.

I believe that the impetus to all change begins with dialogue.  We have a God who talks with us and speaks to us and this is the conversation of life that ultimately brings about our change.  We would do well to use that pattern in an effort to bring about change in our earthly matters as well.  After all, politics itself consists of social relations involving authority or power.  That makes God the Ultimate Politician, because He has all power and He is most social.

Today, look at the scripture above in context and you will realize they are talking about idols and false gods and they go on to say that those that worship them are like them in that they don't speak nor do they hear.

Today vote for the Ultimate Politician and "be like Him."  Talk and hear.  This will bring about the change we've all been waiting for.
