Subject:  Have They Not Read?

Matthew 19:4-5  "And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,  And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?"

One "evangelical" organization stated that we, as Christians, need to learn that there are more issues out there than abortion and gay marriage and move on."  This was in light of the recent California court decision which legalized gay marriage in the state.  In their decision, the court stated that "there is no compelling reason to preserve traditional marriage."

Well I have a really long list of compelling reasons that I could send to the California court.  However, the most compelling reason is the one stated above in Matthew 19; "He which made them at the beginning made them male and female..."  Why?

God made them male and female for the purpose of joining them together.  Of course man always has the choice to go against God and do his/her own thing, but that to their own peril.

Without regard to the politics of the issue, this really is simple.  Christians should ensure that they are siding with God on this issue.  To the California Supreme Court and others who support gay marriage/domestic partnerships and civil unions, "have you not read?"  It's written clearly in God's word, but I guess if they had read this, we wouldn't be discussing this now.  Read and heed.
