Subject: Decision-Making Made Easy
Matthew 22:37 "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind."
For most of the past year, I contemplated how much longer I would be a schoolteacher. I first started thinking about it early last year when the school year began and we had one less instructor to manage even more students and a much-increased workload. All year I found myself saying things like "sorry I missed that deadline," and "sorry, I can't make it, I have another engagement already planned." Additionally, I was quite often having to hear afterwards about events in which my wife and/or kids were participating. So it finally became decision time.
Last week I went in and told the Principal that I would need to find a replacement because I would not be able to continue next year at the school. As expected, he wasn't pleased. In a very professional manner, he asked me over and over what was causing me to make this decision and told me how unhappy this decision made him.
Many friends are surprised to hear that I've made this decision, but for me it was really easy. I now realize all big decisions really are. If you ask one simple question, I think decision-making gets amazingly simple. The question I asked myself was this, "will this decision give me more time with God, my wife and my kids?" When the answer to that question was yes, then it was a "no-brainer."
Today all decisions are easy if we have life properly prioritized and that priority is simply to love God first. Any decision made that draws you into a closer more intimate relationship with Him is always the right decision. Life is challenging. Got Decisions? Answer your own question first about how it affects your relationship with Him and life gets really easy.
