Subject: Positioned For God
2 Chronicles 24:24 - "For the army of the Syrians came with a small company of men, and the LORD delivered a very great host into their hand, because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers. So they executed judgment against Joash."
I've heard this quote from World War II a couple of times and I couldn't really remember the units involved, but I know it was Germany and some army unit, perhaps U.S. or U.K. I never did do well in history in school, but anyway, the Germans had surrounded an Army battalion and the quote from the Officer leading the battalion stated, "they've got us covered in the north and the south and they're flanking us from both sides. We've got em now. They have no way to escape."
That's the outlook Christians should have when the odds are stacked against them. That's what I call being "Positioned For God." While God can and does operate in the ordinary and day to day challenges we face, it often takes those circumstances of extreme fear, anxiety and hopelessness for us to see God at work. We must be brought to the end of our resources of strength, wealth and control to allow God to show us what He can do.
Are the odds against you today? Perhaps you don't have enough knowledge to answer the questions of life. Perhaps you don't have enough money to fix the financial situation or buy the things necessary to resolve the issue. It might be something with your children. You've tried and tried and prayed and prayed and it seems nothing is happening. Well you should have great hope and joy because you are positioned for God.
You are surrounded on all sides, but be not dismayed, God shall, as the verse says, deliver a very great host into your hand. They can not escape. You will win.
