Subject: What Happens Here Stays Here
Luke 12:2 - "For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known."
2 Corinthians 5:10 - "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad."
The title of today's devotional was taken straight off of a current series of TV commercials advertising for people to visit Las Vegas. If you've seen any of the commercials, you know they promote a view that you can do anything, say anything or act any way you want in Las Vegas and no one back at home will ever know about it. In one commercial, a man goes through several different women and each time he lies to them about what he does. Then the commercial simply ends with the tag line, "what happens here, stays here."
What a terrible world view to promote. To have people believe that they can do or say things and never be held accountable for them is unbiblical and simply isn't going to happen. The truth is as the scripture above says, "there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed." Now that's scary. I've always said to myself, "don't do or say anything that you wouldn't want printed as a headline on the largest newspaper in America." Even with that in mind, it's a pretty sobering thought to know that all of the things that I've done will one day be revealed.
The truth is, what happens here doesn't stay here. That should give us cause in itself to change our ways. Don't be misled by this world. There is going to be an accounting one day and if you don't have Christ, what happened here is not only NOT going to stay here, it's going to haunt you for eternity.
