Subject: What We See And What He Sees
Mark 13:1-2 "And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here! And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down"
Mark 13:7-8 "And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows."
Earthquake in China. Cyclone in Myanmar. Epic homelessness due to war and strife in Darfur on the African Continent and the Midwest U.S. is hit by tornadoes, killing some and destroying much. The recent onslaught of devastation worldwide makes one wonder what it all means. One thing we can be sure of though is that we don't see it exactly the way God sees it. We can begin to make all kinds of doomsday predictions and say that this is the end, but God says, "be not troubled...the end shall not be yet."
I think what's interesting though is how the Mark 13:1-2 passage puts it. While we walk around daily, impressed by man-made attractions and creations, God pulls up beside us and says (paraphrased), "those great things you're impressed with, watch and see how they will be destroyed."
It's clear that God is working out His plan, but today as we pray for the loss, we need to understand that compared to what He's got lined up for this world, these are just "the beginnings of sorrows."
Let's put on our spiritual eyes today and see what God sees. If we can stop being impressed with ourselves for a second, we could then see what He's going to do with our creations as He continues to clean up His.
