Subject:  The God Hook-up

2Chronicles 20:17 - "Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you..."

I began to entitle this devotional, "Why Fight, Fret And Fear When We've Got God?"  or something like, "Trust God And Never Fight Again."  It's a message that I've come to see over and over again from scriptures that has played itself out in the reality of my life.  Here is the latest version.

Less than one week from writing this devotional, I wrote a devotional email to friends and this is what it said.  "Our house deal fell through this week, so I figure God must have other plans for us.  For some unknown reason, the president of the house development company didn't want to sell the house to us.  He had nothing to lose by allowing us to upgrade the house, but hey, God's got it all in His hands and will choose the place for us to reside."

At the time, that is exactly what I believed even though I was stressed out about having to begin the house search all over again.  I kept going around telling everyone, "the only reason God wouldn't give us that house was because He had something better." Then, less than a week later, God proved it.  It was no coincidence that as we began the house search again the house we were looking at on the internet had a contract pending on it.  I told Melanie, "let's check it anyway, perhaps the contract will fall through.  I like those floors."  That was on a Tuesday night.  On Wednesday morning, the same internet posting showed that the house was once again "active on the market."

We contacted our realtor and drove to find the address Wednesday afternoon.  Unsure of where we were going, I pointed out to Melanie a street that we passed where I had looked for some property almost a year ago when I first returned from Washington D.C.  As I pointed out the street, I heard Melanie exclaim, "there's the house!"  Once again, no coincidence.  We approached the house.  As I approached, without even going in, I told the realtor, "this is it.  This is the God Hook-up.  Pay them and let's start moving in."  She thought surely he needs to know more, but I really didn't.  As Melanie and I both began to ask questions about the property, my answers to those questions were always the answers that were most beneficial to us and I'd reply, "because this is The God Hookup."

Homeowner dues?  No, because this is the God Hookup.  MUD taxes?  No, because this is the God Hookup.  Then we got added benefits like free water, space for our horses and the information that we were one of the last families to be allowed to live there.  It was truly the God Hookup.

I remember telling the agent from the home that we didn't get that I wouldn't fight for that property that we initially wanted because God was in control and that's true for us as believers.  If we would simply stand still, we would see the salvation of the Lord, and it is glorious.

Today, don't just mouth the words, believe it and know that God has got "The Hookup" if you would just stand still and wait.  That may seem like you're doing nothing, but that's doing more than you could ever imagine.
