Subject:  Didn't You See The Signs?

Hebrews 2:3 - 4 "How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?"

I was driving to church a couple of weeks ago and noticed that my normal route had many signs indicating that the road was closed ahead and that a detour would be necessary.  I carefully followed the detour route and was soon back on the main road in the direction that I wanted to go.  As I drove along,  I noticed a few cars that, for whatever reason, did not seem to notice the signs and had gone some distance on the normal route and were then having to turn around to go backwards to escape the dead end.

This is what God has done to save us.  He has given us prophets, preachers and teachers and if that wasn't enough, He gave us signs so that we could see how to escape a dead-end life.  Many of the roads we're headed down lead nowhere, yet we keep on driving.  Why?  Somehow we often seem to think that since we've been going along one route for so long that it has to always be "the way."  No, sometimes God puts detours in our life from our normal route and when He does, He accompanies them with signs.  Perhaps there is construction up ahead and He wants to steer us clear of it.  That could mean not entering a certain relationship or not taking  a certain job.  His detour could cause us to "accidentally" miss a job interview or show up late for an engagement or date.

As I passed the cars that were having to make a U-turn I was saying to myself, "didn't you see the signs?"  What are the signs that God has posted in your pathway?  Are you heeding them?  Perhaps you should've taken the detour.  Did you must miss the signs?  Think about it.
