Subject:  How Great Is Our God

Deuteronomy 10:17 - King James Version
For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:

2 Samuel 7:22 - King James Version
Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

2 Chronicles 2:5 - King James Version
And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.

Christopher Hitchens is a British-born journalist who recently wrote a book entitled, "God Is Not Great."  He is an avowed atheist who relies heavily on secular theory and science to explain all of life.  In one of his writings he says that he basically distrusts anything that "contradicts science or outrages reason."

Mr Hitchens may seem like someone who is way out on a limb and we can decry his atheistic viewpoints on life, but how important is it for us as believers to believe in a "Great God?"  I think it's vitally important.  If God is not great, then there must be something or someone greater.  If there is something or someone greater than our God, then our God is subject to this thing or this person.

However, the word of God is replete with reasons for us to believe in a Great God and if that isn't enough, our personal life experiences should seal it.

Today if you don't have scientific reasons to believe in a Great God, maybe you have personal reasons.  If you have neither, you should ask God to show you His greatness today.  Christopher Hitchens may write that God is not great, but one day when every knee bows and every tongue confesses, guess what Mr Hitchens will be saying?
