Subject:  Forgetting God

2 Peter 3:5 "But they deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water."

You can draw your own conclusions, but when I saw the article today entitled, "More Americans Say They Have No Religion," I immediately wanted to look at the electoral map from our last Presidential election.  The first thing I saw was a statement in the article that said the Northeast had surpassed the Northwest as the least religious.  The map above shows that President Obama won the election because of two geographic regions in the country, the Northeast and the Northwest.  I thought that was interesting.

They, those who don't know God or say there is no God, are having a greater hand in determining the plight of our country because we are a democracy.  This is not a reason to despair as believers.  Our victory doesn't require a popular vote majority.  As Leviticus 26:8 says, "And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword."  Of course we're not necessarily talking about physical vanquishing of the enemy, but surely spiritual victory.

My personal conclusion is of course that God is becoming less significant in our country as a whole.  The scripture makes clear what is happening.  We are forgetting that God is the Creator and He is most especially "our" Creator.  He made us with a purpose and plan.

Today while the rest of the country may forget God, you as a believer in a fallen world, must stand at the ready, remembering that the Creator who made the heavens and earth remembers you.  Remember Him!
