Subject: They Hate Us Now, But Later...
John 15:18 "If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you."
You may have seen news reports of the bomb blast that took place at a NY Times Square Military recruiting station yesterday. Later many congressional offices in Washington D.C. received letters claiming responsibility for the blasts. This anti-military fervor has been building since our involvement in Iraq and in many cases, even before then. In San Francisco they banned all of their Junior ROTC programs. In Berkley the city council told the Marines they were not welcome there. Military people are in a sense hated by many in our country right now, oh but wait. After 9/11, when fear gripped the heart of the nation, this same group of people wanted protection as many yelled as they ran from the twin towers with fierce images blasted across the screens of TV's from the east coast to the west. Then they needed salvation.
You can clearly see that this same mentality is the same one that many people in this country have towards believers. Many want to move believers out the same way they want to move the military out. Christians are probably the most discriminated and hated group in the country right now and it's simply because of what they believe and like the military, many see no usefulness for Christians, until life shows them differently. After 9/11 you didn't hear people complaining about God and Christian ideals in our schools, but only a few years removed and many despise that we should want to live in a country, "under God."
Today, you may be hated as a follower of Christ, but know that it is only temporary. They hate us now, but they'll one day cry out for us. We should pray that they do it sooner rather than later.
