Subject:  Have It His Way

John 14:13 "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son."

When I was a young child there was a series of commercials run by the fast food chain known as Burger King and it went like this, "hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, special orders don't upset, all we ask is that you let us have it your way."  They then continued with a refrain of "have it your way, have it your way, have it your way at Burger King."

There are lots of good theological points you could make about a jingle like that but I think that one of the best points is that God doesn't get upset by our requests when we're truly hungry for Him.  He says that if we "ask in His name" that He will do it.  He really does want us to have it our way, but only when we order from His menu.  See He's got lots of great things on His menu like a salad of peace and a love entree.  However sometimes when we order from God, we ask for things that aren't on His menu, like sin candy.  When He says that it's not available, we drive around until we find another "restaurant" that sells it.  In the end we're still hungry and want something wholesome to eat.

Today, eat at the King's place.  When you have it His way, you'll get the burger that truly satisfies.
