Subject:  We've Heard Enough From God

Proverbs 1:23 - 29 "Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.  Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;  But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:  I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;  When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.  Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:  For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD."

Turn the TV on any news station today and you will instantly hear men well-versed in the legal aspects of almost anything going on.  Knowledge of the law has become the "thing" to have.  That sounds so familiar.  Oh yea, it is.  Remember the Pharisees?  Paul was one of those guys.  They prided themselves on knowledge of the law and how well they knew it and kept it.  Paul said concerning keeping the law that he was blameless.  I guess things really haven't changed that much.

In the end, it will be the knowledge that we have gained, our intellect versus the counsel that God has given us and how well we have followed that counsel.  The Proverb above talks about how we tend to "set at nought" His counsel.  That is frequently what our "law" does today.  It really doesn't matter to many legal professionals what His law says, we have "our" law.  We think we're smart and have gained much knowledge, but in reality, we hate knowledge.

Today, understand that we've heard enough from God.  We've heard enough to follow and we've heard enough to choose to fear Him.  If we choose not to do either, our fear will eventually come "as desolation and our destruction as a whirlwind."   Man's law is temporal.  God's law is forever.
