Subject: Getting To Acceptable
Romans 12:1 "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."
We had a really great time with our men's group Saturday talking about addictions and we battled them all. From procrastination and fear to pornography and drug use, we talked about how necessary it is for us to be free from such bondage. We were further enlightened by the Spirit on the significance of the word "acceptable" in the scripture above.
As unbelievers, we became acceptable to God through trusting in the work of Jesus Christ. In that sense, we are and will always be acceptable to God. However, in another sense, now as believers, we can be acceptable and unacceptable based how much we choose to "present our bodies as living sacrifices."
Although I am a saved believer in Jesus Christ, any, I repeat "any" addiction makes me unacceptable to a God that requires that I come before Him as totally pure and holy.
This is our challenge and our goal. It is great to be a believer in the Most High God, but we want to continue on. It doesn't stop there. We want to get to acceptable. Keep pressing toward the mark and know that you can't get there with any addiction, unless that addiction is to Jesus Christ.
