Subject: That's Just Satan Calling
Romans 3:19 "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
We get a million of these calls everyday seems like. Telemarketers trying to get us to come to a timeshare seminar, sell us insurance or offer us a free vacation. Of course we use the technology of "caller i.d." so that even my daughters know that if the number is unrecognizable or says "out of area," we simply don't answer the call. It's simply a waste of time.
We need a caller i.d. for Satan. Often we know it's him calling but we answer anyway and that is not only a waste of time, but it hurts us in the long run.
Imagine that you've been a part of a bible study group each week at a particular time. You enjoy the fellowship and you're really starting to grow. Amazingly an old friend comes on the scene and asks you to start attending some other function at exactly the time of the bible study, each and every week. That's Satan calling and you need to hang up. Or imagine that you have a principle against seeing certain types of movies, as I do, and someone says, "well it just has a little bit of this or that," which is something that you don't want to see. That is Satan calling again.
Satan doesn't always call us to overtly sin, he begins by asking us to compromise and like the caller i.d. machine, we must be quick to recognize when he's calling.
As the scripture says, we must resist Satan and he will flee from us. So if you see that he's calling on you today, just don't answer. Ignore the call and say "that's just Satan calling."
