Subject: Why Some Lose
Matthew 25:1-5 "Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept."
The "economic crisis" makes clear why some people deserve to lose in our society. Of course our government is doing much to prop up failed firms, banks and businesses, but the harsh reality of life is that some are wise and some are foolish.
Wise people prepare properly; not just in an economic sense, but in a spiritual sense as well. That means they will use their God-given resources wisely. Their time and talents are all waiting to be used at God's beck and call.
Foolish people simply do not prepare properly and surely that's in a spiritual sense as well as an economic sense. While the foolish consist of a whole host of people in our country and while many others think you should feel sorry for them, the scripture above shows a really mean "Lord" who closed the door on those who had not properly prepared. In the end, they were the big losers and the door was shut on them.
Today, we should care more for the things of God than we do the things of man. When we do that, we will properly minister to the losers and in some cases that may mean "shutting the door." Read the rest of Matthew 25 and see why some lose.
