Subject: We Break All The Rules
James 2:10 - "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."
As I thought about my own life and analyzed the principles of The Ten Commandments, I realized that while the statement identified in this James passage is true, the issue really doesn't boil down to asking if we keep the whole law. Based on Christ's principles, I find that we really keep none of the law. Here are a few examples:
Thou shalt have no other gods before me - Have you ever decided that your way was better than God's way and made your own decision?
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord they God in vain - Ever used that phrase that many use "Oh My _ _ _ " and it wasn't a plea for help
Thou shalt not kill - Ever paid somebody back really good for something they did to you. You "killed" them.
Thou shalt not steal - Oh this one is easy. You go through the line at the store and they mistakenly ring up a cheaper price and you know it and keep moving without uttering a word.
Thou shalt not commit adultery - Ever lusted one time?
Well you get the point and the list goes on and on. I tried to find one of the commandments that I had not broken and simply realized that I've broken them all. I need a Savior and I thank God that through Jesus Christ He has resolved all of my violations of the law. Think you're sin-free, re-examine the rules. We've got sin issues.
