Today's Devotional

Subject:  True Or Truth

John 18:37 "Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice."

I thought about the controversy I stirred up this week with a couple of the devotionals that I wrote.  Many of you saw the reaction to some interesting subjects currently in the spotlight.  It showed that if we decide to walk or talk truth, there will be controversy.  It was the same way for Jesus so we should not be shocked.  That's because God didn't just come to bring peace, but also a sword.  He came to bear witness to truth.  Many think that when they talk about things that are true, they are speaking truth, but there is a difference between what is true and truth.

See it may be true that I'm a black man so "the system" is against me, but God's truth says "that as many as received Him, to them He gave POWER to become the sons of God...which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

It may be true that a rapper is "just keeping it real" when he/she writes a rap song that talks about a life of promiscuity, drug use and criminal behavior, but truth says that "the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God" and then gives a list consisting of "fornicators, adulterers, effeminate, thieves...and such were some of you, but you are washed and sanctified..."

Today are you dealing in just what's true or are you dealing in God's truth?  Everything that is true isn't the truth.  You need to add God to make it so, because truth without God in it is only a half-truth and even in our court system they want the whole truth.   Add God to what's true in your life and you'll then get His truth.
