Subject: Christianity Lite
2 Timothy 3:5 "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away."
They advertise that it is hard to tell the difference between real Coke and Diet Coke. It's supposed to have all of the taste, but without the calories. Like that old beer commercial where the argument continues over whether people drink it for it's, "great taste" or because it's "less filling."
I have a coworker at school who is quite religious. At least she's always talking about her church, but boy most of the other times when she's opening her mouth, she just doesn't sound too Christian. It's not that she can't be a Christian, but it's just hard for me to swallow a Christianity that uses the "f" word as common every day jargon.
This and other acts of ungodliness by believers is a result of a theology that I call, "Christianity Lite." It's got all of the appearances of regular Christianity, but it's less "filling." It doesn't require all of that holiness and righteousness stuff that can weigh down a believer. It only takes regular church attendance, minus bible study of course and huge doses of the world via television or famous people hosting talking shows who say they are Christian and promote Christianity Lite themselves.
Today it may be okay in your beverages or your food to take the "lite" product, but when it comes to your Christianity, you want Christianity Classic. All of the taste and all the "filling" (Holy Spirit) you can get, because just like Coke, regardless of what they say, Christianity Lite will never taste like Christianity Classic.
