Subject: Change Defined
Proverbs 22:21 "My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:"
President Obama surprised many on the conservative side of politics as he began to make his cabinet appointments. He seemed destined to govern the country from the political center. It was really no surprise that he immediately began spending large sums of taxpayer money in his first 50 days. His predecessor did much the same as he was leaving office. He also seemed to bolster conservative support by sending more, not less, troops into harms way in Afghanistan; another item on which he campaigned that was also supported by most everyone. So for a candidate that ran on change, where is it? The following excerpts show where the change is happening:
Obama reverses Bush policy on stem cells.
Obama drops charges against terror planner.
Obama suspends trials of terror suspects.
Obama reverses abortion funding policy.
Obama reverses U.S. position on LGBT issues at UN.
Obama to end military's don't ask don't tell policy.
In reality, none of this "change" is shocking and the truth is, most of these actions are things that the President campaigned for. This is the change that America wanted and the President is delivering. As the scripture above says, I will fear the Lord and the "king," and I won't meddle with them that are given to change. I will pray for God's will to be done.
