Subject:  My Problem With Light-Skinned Christians

Galatians 3:28 "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus."

It's probably best that Mike Huckabee didn't get the nomination for the Republican party, because that would have furthered a problem that I often see with Light-Skinned Christians or what would be known as "The White Church."  Sadly, we still have lots of "white" and "black" churches in this country.

For many years, white Christians have too closely associated themselves with the Republican party, even at times when they were running against more Christian Democratic candidates and while that hasn't been the case recently, many light-skinned Christians acted as though Republican and Christian were synonymous.  They clearly are not.  While the Republican Party platform generally ascribes to the basic biblical principles in favor of life and family values, there are in fact many Republicans with views that are anti-biblical.  Current Republican Presidential nominee, John McCain is still somewhat unclear on the issue of "civil unions," while saying he opposes gay marriage.

Christians need to divorce themselves of the need to be more closely associated with any group more than with their churches.  This doesn't mean that we can't belong to other organizations, however, we can't buy into the world's idea that we must separate our faith from everything else.  Most white Christians would say they agree with this, however, how many of them would actually stand against the prejudice that they see against a fellow black Christian if it happened at their workplace and was being perpetrated by a non-Christian white.

Our beliefs need to come from the word of God and we need to live them each and every day.  When we talk about "we" and "our people" it should be a statement of our family in God.  That's the one we're eternally set for.  This black thing and this white thing will be done soon enough.  Start living eternally now.
