Subject:  Young And Unashamed

Romans 1:16  "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."

Okay so most of you probably aren't into rap/hip hop music, but then that's not what I'm talking about when I say that the concert I went to last night was outstanding.  It was simply outstanding as a ministry.  The group is comprised of several rappers and they call themselves The 1-1-6 Clique.  They use the Romans 1:16 passage above as the basis for that title.  Their point to youth is, that you shouldn't wait till you get older to serve Christ.  Serve Him now.  That's a positive message, but my wife and I were simply amazed at the spiritual maturity of such young men.  One of the rappers is 19 or 20 years-old and the things we heard him say and rap about were a true testimony that only Christ, moving in the heart of a man or woman, could do something like that at such an early age.

Another of the rappers told the high-energy crowd that his wife was in an accident on her way driving from Dallas to Houston yesterday, the same day of their ministry/concert.  She is three months pregnant and her car flipped over.  He went on to explain that this was not a deterrent to him bringing the message that God wanted him to bring.   He stated that it was that important to him.  I was amazed by that.  Surely most people would tell him to go and be with his wife and not to worry about the concert, but he was truly serious about what he was doing and that's what transformed this concert into a ministry event.

Truly these men were young and unashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  They know that it is the power of God unto salvation and they choose to live it first and foremost and then tell others about it.  Their continual deflection of all glory and praise from themselves to Christ is best exhibited by the simple lines from a song called "Superstar" by one of the rappers named, Trip Lee.

If you're looking for a superstar

I ain't the one you're searching for

I came to bring some worship bro

He's perfect I'm just here below

If you're looking for a superstar

Don't look at me you got me wrong

I've been a sinner all along

Just look at Him and not this song.
