Subject: The Apocalypse - 06.06.06
Revelation 13:16 - 18 "And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
Okay so the date looks funny as 06/06/06 and we can find a million superstitions to go along with the numbers, but the truth is that most people would rather hype the numbers than look at the message behind the 666 of biblical lore.
Of course there are movies, books and lots of money to be made by using today's date as something mystical, but the bigger message is that God is giving the world a great opportunity to come to the "revelation" of future events.
One day the 666 number will have real meaning. One day, as the scripture records, no one will be able to buy or sell unless they have this particular mark. With technology and all, no one is exactly sure what the mark will look like. Some say it will appear as a barcode while others use the literal numbers. Either way, there is no hype necessary here, only preparation. Seeing that these events will come and come soon, God's message is, "be ready." As believers we not only don't fear the Apocalypse, we look forward to it. It is another date on God's calendar as we march toward a time when we will reign with Him forever.
Today use the date to echo the warnings of not only the Apocalypse, but the Great Day of the Lord. It can be doomsday or it can be glorious. The beauty of it all is that each of us can decide which it will be.
