Subject: Funeral Detail
Hebrews 9:27 - "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment"
After attending two funerals in one week, I've noticed how the pain of loss hits everyone equally without regard to age or time. One of the funerals was for a 48 year-old and the other for an 80 year-old. In each case there was grief on the part of family members and loved ones and it brought home the point in the above verse.
In light of this verse, how ought we as believers to live?
Because I have my daughters in the summer time, I react somewhat differently than I think I would if they lived with me year-round. In a sense, I act as though I won't see them again in that we do many exciting and fun things and I'm usually doing something with them all the way up until bed time.
This is the fullness in which Christ wants us to live with Him each and every day, making the most of our time here with Him because we will all stand in the judgment one day. Let's judge ourselves now because death is one appointment that we will all keep unless of course Christ returns first.
