Subject: Close To The Edge
Psalms 36:4 - "He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil."
My 4-year old sometimes falls out of the bed during the night. I watched last night after hearing the thud sound, as she calmly got back up and placed herself right back on the side of the bed. Realizing her problem, I got up, went over and placed her in the middle of the bed. I didn't hear any more thuds the rest of the night.
This is quite like the problem of some Christians in the "bed" of Christianity. We acknowledge Jesus as our Savior, but we don't want to get too far into it so we stay on the edge. We don't want people to think we're strange or we don't want to be seen as Jesus freaks or we don't want to make others uncomfortable with all of that "religious" talk so we try to stay on the edge of Christianity. That's why we keep falling out of the bed.
That is not the bed that God has prepared for us. His bed is quite large and He wants us right in the middle of it. So if you keep falling out of the bed, perhaps it's how you're setting yourself in it. Move towards the middle. God wants us to go deeper and deeper with Him into the bed of Christianity. There we never have to worry about falling out of it.
