Subject: A Government of Judgment And Justice
Isaiah 9:7 - "Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this."
We often complain about the issues in our country so much that we forget that we've got it pretty good here. Whatever this form of government is that has taken hold since 1776 has worked quite well. Witness the chaos and turmoil in Iran as they hold elections.
Here in the good ole US of A, we fought vigorously over who would make the best President in our recent election. We went to the polls, voted and then the winner came to power with much fanfare, but no acts of violence or protests.
In Iran, they had an election, which in itself is odd. I don't seem to remember them having elections before and few people around the world think that they matter anyway because of the type of government they have. Their President is supposedly a figure-heard without much power and the religious ruler makes all of the decisions, including who is going to run for President. To go on, the picture above is a result of election chaos. Before they began kicking foreign reporters out of the country yesterday, state-run radio in Iran reported that seven people had been killed in election protests.
While many hate to admit it, our government has succeeded where others have failed because it was established on better principles, chiefly, those of the bible. Of course our history has cases of protest shootings, but our founding fathers knew something that kept us solid for hundreds of years and is echoed in the scriptures, "except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it."
Our form of government isn't perfect by any means, but it does give a glimpse of what His government will be. We have "some" judgment and justice. His will have all judgment and justice. For now, lets just thank Him for what He has given us and we shall live in His peace.
