Subject:  Who Do You Pray To?

Ezekiel 12:25  "For I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord GOD."

Okay let us review.  Prayers should be done with His will in mind and not our own.  That was the message yesterday.  Today the message when you pray is that you must pray to the One God.  I received this prayer yesterday when I tried to get clarification on where the request to pray for Barack came from.  Read carefully.

"Father, we lift up Your son Barack Obama on our prayers and praises.  We thank You for a time such as this and for sending a man such as Barack to fulfill Your work in our land. We blanket Barack, Michelle, and his family in our prayers, our love, our warm thoughts, our positive energy, and our spiritual forces.  We stand resolute in prayer against any and all negative forces or spirits of darkness, ignorance, and hatred that would seek to destroy Your handiwork. O Lord, Barack is Your Handiwork. And we praise, worship, and honor You for the great things You are doing and will do through His hands. Amen.

When I read this prayer, I did not get the feeling that it was being prayed to the God that we all know, the God who looks over His will to perform it.  Perhaps it's just me, but when I see the words "positive energy," I get this whole new-age feeling about things.  Then that was exacerbated when I saw "negative forces."  If we "blanket" someone in our "spiritual forces," what are we talking about.  What are we actually doing?  I'm not sure so I looked extra hard to identify Jesus through this prayer or that He was being called upon, but saw nothing.  There are many other problems that I had with this prayer, but the foremost problem is that I'm not sure who it was prayed to.

Today, we only have One God.  To Him we pray.  We can't try mixing in spiritual concepts to get to this One, True God.  When you pray, ensure that it is to God.  We don't have to "cover all of our bases" in case our God can't do something.  Right now His saying His word and performing it.
