Subject:  God's Making Burgers

Isaiah 55:2 - "Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness."

Let us start today by ensuring that we have the scripture in proper context.  Those who know me well, know that I do not advocate being overweight or getting fat.  So the scripture is talking about eating that "spiritual" food, "which is good and let your soul delight itself in fatness."  Once again your "soul" is to delight in fatness, not your physical body.  Now that we have that clear, let me talk about some really good burgers that will get your body fat if you eat too many of them.

On the West coast and slowly moving east is a chain called In-N-Out.  Just to say the name gives me the Pavlov's Dog response.  Anyway, they make what some call the best burger in the world and judging by their success, that might be true.  For years they were family-owned and operated and didn't franchise.  I'm not sure that they do now, but because they are growing so rapidly now, they must have started to do that.

I've been eating their burgers since I lived in California in the mid 80's, but it was only last month while I was preparing for church and doing a  computer search on a scripture that the pastor was to use in his message, that I noticed the burger chains Christian affiliation.  Of course as a believer who loves a good burger, I was hyped and thought to myself, "no wonder their burgers are so good."

Now as it correlates to the scripture, while someone may be sitting there at In-N-Out eating that which they "think" is good, they may find that what is good is that the word of God inscribed on In-N-Out packaging can bring them real "fatness."  It's not the cholesterol inducing kind, but instead the kind that forever satisfies and provides eternal health benefits.  As a matter of fact, if we eat this bread, it allows us to live forever.  Now that's a good burger.

Today I'm happy to report that God is making burgers.  If you eat one, you will get fat, the good way.  Some might find the In-N-Out burger to be the best, but they can lead you to a better burger with God's word on their packaging.
