Subject: Making Wrong Right
Romans 10:3 - "For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God."
Yesterday we had the Holocaust Museum shooting in Washington D.C. Last week we had the Dr. Tiller murder in his church in Kansas. And in the same week, we had the killing of Pvt William Long in Little Rock, Arkansas. What did they all have in common besides being murdered in cold blood? Each of their assailants did it because they "knew" it was the right thing to do.
Based on what I know of each of these cases, each of the murderers in these cases believes that God was on their side and that their killings were justified. That's crazy and that's what we do when we set up our own standard of righteousness for others. See it's really not our job as individual citizens to execute justice for perceived wrongs. Doing that would always lead to an imbalanced justice because so often our standard of right and wrong varies.
That's why God wants us to understand His righteousness and submit to it. When we do that, we won't spend our time justifying our wrongful acts as the assailants, those that are living anyway, are doing today. It matters not. All of the justification in the world can't make wrong right.
