Subject:  A Real Taste Of God

Psalms 34:8 - "O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him."

My roommate likes bar b que sauce on chicken.  It doesn't matter if it's baked, grilled, fried or anything else.  It simply needs bar b que sauce.  I asked him one day if he'd ever tasted chicken; because he puts his bar b que sauce on it all the time, it must be hard to know what the chicken tastes like.  Some people do it with condiments which are supposed to enhance the flavor of foods, not cover them up.

Sometimes people do the same thing with God and therefore, don't really know what God "tastes" like.  They really don't know His flavor, so when a new idea or thought comes across the TV screen, they entertain it, unaware that it is in reality, nothing like God.  After the latest best-selling author puts his spin on a private revelation, we tend to accept it because it sounds like God, it looks like God and it even tastes like God.  Well sorry folks, but that doesn't make it of God.  The only thing that tastes like God is God himself.

In the end, some will come with the flavor of God and will deceive many.  The only way to know the real God is to taste Him and see who He is now.  Don't let the world cover Him up with it's "condiments."  Taste Him for yourself.
