Subject:  Leave It All On The Field

Colossians 3:23 - "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;."

After this, the most hectic week I've experienced this year, I feel exhausted, fatigued and totally expended.  However, through it all, I feel motivated from all of the things I've been doing.  Even early this morning, when I finish typing this, I'll be on my way to do more yardwork, wire a sound system for the church and then make sure I've got all of the bar b que to the guy who is gonna prepare it for a Sunday church event, and even then I've left off a few items that I'll still need to do.

When I played high school and college football, my coaches had a term for this.  We when played a game, they would ask that we look back after the game and have no regrets about the amount of effort that we put forth.   They would say, "leave it all on the field."  I like that.

As believers in this world, we should also "leave it all on the field."  That doesn't mean just work and try and work and try to make everything happen until you're worn out.   It means that we should work the works that God has sent us to do with all of our might.  If He sends us to the work, then surely He wants our full effort devoted to the task.  If it's your marriage and ensuring that you're doing all you can to make the relationship work, you should leave it all on the field.  If it's your job and making sure that your efforts represent that you're working at it like God is your boss, you should leave it all on the field.  Even if you're volunteering to help the neighborhood kids do a car wash, you should leave it all on the field.

Our testimony to the world should say, "boy those Christians really leave it all on the field, don't they?"
