Subject:  Helping Parents See God

Isaiah 29:23."When they see among them their children, the work of my hands, they will keep my name holy; they will acknowledge the holiness of the Holy One of Jacob, and will stand in awe of the God of Israel.

In the waiting room there was her husband, her sister, a niece and then four of her 6 children and some of their children.  I guess my mom wasn't feeling too lonely as she recovered from her 5-hour long surgery ordeal on Wednesday.  As we watched the flurry of visitors all day we couldn't help but realize how blessed God has made our parents.  All parents don't live to see their children become productive citizens in society and when they do, it's as God says above (paraphrased), it makes them worship God and stand in awe of Him.

My mom is currently recovering in the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital, but she came through the surgery well due to her great physical health.  That's a devotional for another day about keeping fit till the end.  As we alternated through her room, keeping the 2-person limit, most times, everyone seemed to have conversation about various memories.  She recalled to me a time when she was feeling sick and with chills, that I brought her some soup and continually ministered to her needs.  In many ways we think that our parents are proud of their offspring for their great accomplishments; all college graduates doing "great" things, but I believe that the thing that makes my mom worship God are the "great" things she sees in her children like the time I brought her soup and ministered to her needs.  This is what makes my mom stand in awe of God, that He would create from her, people who would minister to her.

Today, you may have children or you may be someone's child with an opportunity to help them see God.  When parents see among their children the work of God's hands, they will acknowledge Him as The Great One that He is.  Children, help your parents see God by submitting to His work.
