Subject:  Kill The Scout Ant

James 1:14-15 "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.  Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death."

It looks innocent.  The small, tiny ant wandering around probing for a food source is often easily ignored.  You leave it alone and come back hours later or days later and to your amazement you find hundreds or thousands of ants feasting on a small bread crumb or other piece of food.

I thought about this the other day while I was out in the garage.  I saw a few tiny ants on the edge of the driveway lingering.  I passed by them and came back later and a line had formed.  That's when I picked up the trusty can of Raid Ant and Roach and went on my killing spree.

Like the ants, we often wait until the sin in our lives has overtaken us to try to kill it and that task is much tougher than killing it early.  With the ants, the scout is out to find the food substance and if he doesn't do his job, then the whole colony of ants will go without food.

You can starve your sin today if you kill the "scout."  The scout could be a sinful thought that you entertain.  The scout could be a relationship that is improper and unholy.  Whatever it is, it is Satan's attempt to overtake you like a colony of ants on a piece of bread.

Today use your can of Raid early.  We call it the Holy Spirit and better than Raid, it knocks sin dead on contact.
