Subject: Better Than A Doctor
Proverbs 17:22 "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones"
I have another doctor's appointment today. I'm really getting tired of going to them so that they can tell me nothing. Each time I've been, they seem to want to brush me off and tell me to "take these (pills of some sort) for a couple of weeks then see how it feels." What is this, trial and error medicine? I do enough of that on my own.
The scripture shows one remedy that works really well and that is a "merry heart." As the scripture says, it's "good like medicine" and from what I've seen it's actually better. I'm sure I've saved thousands of dollars over my lifetime with this prescription. I've had injuries and sicknesses of all types and while to some it appears that I just keep going, I realize how important attitude is for your health. Of course there are some things that you need to go to a doctor for and you also need to heed their advice at times, but our so-called healthcare problem in this country could be fixed if a lot of people changed their attitudes. Why just this morning I went into Wal-Mart to buy some grapes and I picked up the last two bags of green grapes. As I picked them up, a gentleman working there looked over at me and I smiled and said, "good morning." He smiled back and then came over and said, "wait, those grapes are old." He went to the back of the store and brought out a fresh cart of grapes. I thought to myself, "life is easy if I just keep smiling."
My wife always tells me that my smile is my best feature and more than anything it mirrors the merriment that I have inside. A merry heart is good medicine and from what I've seen, better than most of my doctors. Okay, pray for my trip to the doctors today.
