Subject:  The Harder It Rains

Matthew 7:25 - "And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock."

I was on my way to work as the rain began to trickle down.  After I had been on the road for about 15 minutes, it was no longer a trickle.  The rain was now beating heavily upon my windshield and visibility was reduced to the roadway directly in front of my vehicle.  At that point I observed this strange thing that we all do at times like these.  When it got really tough, I turned down the radio and really began to focus in on the driving.  I did it because of the difficulty in navigation with my attention being focused on things other than the task at hand, which was to drive.  Sometimes we do the same thing when we're driving and we get lost.  We turn down the music or the radio to help us focus.

Perhaps that's why God makes it rain in our lives so much.  Often we speed through life without focusing on the task at hand.  God brings the heavier rains so that we can pay attention to the roadway of life that is directly in front of us.  It may require us to focus on "the little white lines" on the roadway of life to help us navigate successfully through the downpour.

Today, don't complain about the rain, just understand that the harder it rains, the more you've got to focus.  You don't want to end up in life's ditch because life really is slippery when wet.
