Subject: Am I Right Right Now?
Ecclesiastes 9:1 - "For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them."
I was a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps stationed in Okinawa, Japan and it was a normal day when all of a sudden, the Executive Officer, a Major, called me on the phone and said, "the man" wants to see you. I asked him what it was about and he said, "bring an extra rear end (clean version) with you." As I walked toward the boss's office, I pondered what the issue could have been, but then all of a sudden, I began to pray to God about sin in my life. At the time I wondered, "hey what's this got to do with my trip to see the boss?" It became more evident when I got to the bosses office. As he ranted and raved about one of my Marines who had done some terrible things over the weekend, I sensed such a peace and eventually the boss calmed down and said, "just take care of it."
Like all things in life, it never really is about the circumstances or the people. It's always about you and God. When we are right before Him, it is truly all in His hands.
Whether it's the pain of divorce, the loss of a job, a fight with one of your children or siblings or a friend, your peace in the midst of the storm will always be contingent on your life and relationship with God. See God wants us in unbroken communion with Him because He knows that if we have that, then we can clearly His voice. That's why it's necessary to daily, hourly and every minute ask, am I right right now? Because if you are, then it's all in His hands.
