Subject:   How Good Do We Have It?

Matthew 6:34 - "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."

I don't think we realize how great a life we have here in the United States and North America in general.  While many parts of the world contemplate where the next meal is coming from, we have enormous debates about our status 40 years from now.  We talk about making sure we have funding for our children's children and ensuring that global warming doesn't damage the planet five or six decades from now.  How nice.

I think that's why God's model prayer for us states that He should give us each day our "daily" bread.  The daily reliance on Him is what makes the difference.  Of course we are good stewards if we make plans and the scripture tells parents to store up for their children, but God's already got tomorrow figured out so that allows us to live focused on what He has us doing today and if we do that, forty years from now, the planet and our retirement will be right where it was supposed to be.

Today we've got it good; not because we're in the U.S., but because we're in Jesus and He's got the whole world, smack dab in the middle of His hands.
