Subject: When The Secular Becomes Sinful
Ezekiel 33:14 - 15 "Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right; If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die."
If you haven't been following the actions of the Ford Motor Company lately, it's pretty interesting to watch. They've been fighting hard to maintain their advocacy and support of homosexuality, abortion and stem cell research. The American Family Association approached them about a year ago and asked that they remain neutral on such issues, but Ford reneged on that promise after initially agreeing. Since then, the company has recorded record losses in almost every quarter of the last year, finishing the year with a 12.7 billion dollar loss.
I think it's important to understand that most all of our professions or careers are secular. That doesn't mean though that they have to be sinful. However, that is up to us and how we use those secular professions. Ford is a company that makes automobiles. That's what they should strive to do well. When they take that profession and begin to use it to fight against the law of God, they've made their secular profession sinful.
As the passage above states, we should endeavor to "walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity." That means keeping our hearts pure before God. There's more than enough world in us. Lets not let it get between us and our God. Whatever you're doing today, don't let your secular become sinful.
