Subject: Guided or Grieving?

I Cor 6:19: "...Know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?"

John 16:13: "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth..."

Eph 4:30:"And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption."

When we consider these scriptures together, the devotion almost writes itself.  But lets walk together anyway.

The Old Testament informs us that the tabernacle posessed three courts. The outer court, inner court and Holiest of Holies.  The latter, being seperated by a veil, was so named because God was present inside and that is where He met and communed with his people(Ex.25:22).  However, we also know that only certain people(the high priest) were commissioned or ordained to go behind the veil into the presence of God. They would go to make atonement for their sin and the sin of others.  But that was then.

We now have a better covenant. The New Testament teaches, when Jesus died the veil was torn from top to bottom.  Which brings us to our scripture. The veil tearing was not just indicative of the fact that now, all could be in the presence of God, but also that God is present in us all ( in believers that is).

We are the temple of God and His spirit lives inside of us, to teach and to guide us. Technically speaking, we are the Holiest of Holies!  Now hold on. I do not make that statement for us to think more highly of ourselves then we ought, but in hopes that we recognize the power and responsibility we possess because of who possesses us - we are not our own.

Now, I know that we are always led by the Holy Spirit and that were are always in the will of God, but just in case we have an off day lets think on this; We receive the Spirit of God at the moment we believe in Him. And He(the Holy Spirit) never leaves us. That being said, Paul  is correct in being careful to warn us not to grieve the Holy Spirit of God.  Because the Holy Spirit never leaves us, He grieves every time we sin. He is present no matter what we think, say or do. He is present for all of our faults and He has to endure every iniquity!

Now, look again: 1)We are God's temple  2)He lives in us and guides us  3)He never leaves us

Question.

Today, will the Holy Spirit guide you or will you grieve Him?!

Blessings
Kea
