Subject: The Intolerance Of Tolerance
John 11:53 - "Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death."
In Seattle Washington, a well-known pastor was invited to speak at his daughter's high school. Ken Hutcherson, a former NFL player, now pastor of the Antioch Bible Church in Redmond, Washington is noted for his views against homosexuality and gay marriage. When he stood up to deliver the MLK Day address to his daughter's high school, he was booed by a teacher. At the end of the assembly, a different teacher asked him how he could stand for civil rights while discriminating against gays and lesbians.
The actions of these teachers were clearly out of line, but it shows one thing. While many people in our society believe that we should accept and tolerate any and most every thing, there is little tolerance for Christianity and God.
If Christians stand up in the market square and espouse the words of God, you can believe that there won't be tolerance. Mr Hutcherson was at the assembly to speak about MLK, but his views against homosexuality as God says in His word, caused the people's intolerance.
There's lots of talk about tolerance, but if you're standing with God and they don't tolerate you, that's a good thing. When they found out what Jesus was about, they didn't tolerate Him. Today consider if you're trying to be tolerated or accepted by the world. We should never tolerate sin.
