Subject: The State Of The Union
1 Thessalonians 4:9 - "But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another."
Last evening the President gave his State of the Union address. As always it is a big political event and it's always interesting to watch people from different political parties and affiliations, react to what the President said. Normally, if you're from the President's party, you find the good and talk about that, but if you're from the opposition party, regardless of the merits of his points, you find the thing to disagree with and you talk about that.
What if we had to give a "State Of The Union" address to God on a regular basis? What if we had to talk about our affairs and how things are going? What if we had to talk about how we were treating our neighbor and how we were getting along with our spouse and children? What if we had to talk about how we had helped those in need?
We really do give a state of the union address every day. God is the audience and He wants to see how we are doing with this thing called "love" that He Himself has taught us. Do we act like politicians and find a reason to like or dislike someone, or do we do love the way God has taught us?
What is the State Of Your Union today?
