Subject: Hotel For Babies
Psalm 68:6 "God setteth the solitary in families..."
Because I'm somewhat strange, I always seem to see things that some don't see. We were at the movies this week with our daughters to see the newly released film, Hotel For Dogs. Good story line about a couple of children who lost their parents and were being bounced around from foster home to foster home. Through all of that drama, they had a stabilizing influence in their lives, their pet dog. However they couldn't have the pet while in foster care so they had to use sneaky devices to maintain their pet and in a really tear-jerking scene, after police discovered that they were maintaining a hotel for their pet and many other stray and lost dogs, the kids were being split up and sent to separate foster homes. It was a touching scene as the children explained to each other, "at least we tried to save the dogs." As I looked over at my girls, one on the left and one on the right, they were both crying. Of course I understood that, but in my mind, I was thinking how if we have that kind of compassion for pets, such as dogs, how much more should we have that compassion for unborn babies?
Yesterday marked the 36th anniversary of the controversial Roe v Wade decision which legalized abortion in our country. Days after the inauguration of the 44th President of the U.S., thousands marched on the Supreme Court yesterday, rallying against the newly elected leaders plan to sign the Freedom of Choice Act which removes many restrictions on abortion. The President has made it clear that he wants to make sure abortion remains a woman's right.
We need to pray for the President because as believers we know that he is wrong on this matter. No one has the right, although they may have the ability, to kill what God has created. As one protestor said in the march yesterday in Washington, God has a place for each one of those children that he created.
As I think about the movie that I saw and the scripture above, I agree that he has a place for all the life that He has created. Just as those ingenious kids came up with a Hotel For Dogs, God has already created a Hotel For Babies; it could be your house or mine; your family or my family. Lets make it our focus not to just pray, but to be actively involved in saving lives that some would destroy.
