Subject:  Partnering With The President

1 Timothy 2:1-2 "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;  For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty."

I can't get past this because we seemingly can't get past this.  I'm sure to ruffle some feathers today, but I think we're over-playing the color thing a bit and that wouldn't be so bad except that we're doing it only because this man of color is more "liberal" than others.  We didn't get close to this measure of hoopla for Colin Powell or Condi Rice when they were placed in their historic positions for people of color, nevertheless, I thought that was about right.  They (Powell and Rice) were seen as people with the ability, know-how and leadership to get the job done.  That's what we should see with President Obama.

President Obama was selected by the people of America because we believe he has the ability, talents and gifts to get the job done.  We should all see him that way.  Every American should be proud of this country for what it represents and that shouldn't have just started yesterday.  It was great to see the large crowd of people of all colors and I'm wondering why we haven't had that before.  I contend it is because many couldn't support others because they didn't "look right."  We need to get past that.  For those who are now supporting the President because he looks a certain way, well you're part of the problem in this country.

Today we should all be partnering with the President for the success of our great nation.  We do this not because he looks a certain way, but because it is an imperative by the Almighty who placed him in this position that we do so.  I'm proud to live in this country and always have been.  So if you didn't pray for President Bush because you didn't like him or because he didn't look like you, you can get it right now by praying for President Obama because he is the God-given authority and not because his skin color is pleasing to you.
