Subject: The Inaugural Prayer
2 Thessalonians 3:1-2 "Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith."
Today we can put the arguing and fighting and fussing all behind us as we finally get to the inauguration of President-elect Barack H Obama. With all of the hoopla going forth, it is time for "reasonable" men and women of God to get to the real business of what we do. We pray.
There has been much reported about the soon-to-be Commander In Chief's selections for prayers at his inaugural service. From the openly gay bishop that was chosen to pray at yesterday's service to the charismatic Christian author Rick Warren who is scheduled to do the invocation today, everyone seems to be in on the inauguration. Our "in" is to pray.
See everybody that is feeling hope, doesn't understand where hope lies. Everybody asking for change, don't understand where change starts. It is simply left up to us as believers to cover the President in prayer. If we do that, then we can be sure that "the word of the Lord will have free course" and that's what we want more than anything else. Well it should be anyway. This is our inaugural prayer.
Today if you want anything out of the new President more than you want God's word and His glory to have free course, check your hope at the door and go back to your prayer closet. As the scripture says, "all men (and women) have not faith." Are you one of those?
