Subject: Happy Re-New Year
Lamentations 3:21-23 - "This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
Yesterday I wrote about "hate" being in the forecast for the new year for believers as it has always been. A friend responded that her forecast for the new year was "hope," slyly referring to her support of the President-elect. I cynically responded to her asking, "what was your forecast for last year?"
Today the question is, "what is your forecast for today and tomorrow?" It should always be hope and not because we've put a new or different person in the White House, but because of the Lord's great mercy and His never-failing love. They are heaped on us freshly every day.
So today for us, it's not really a new year, it's another day for renewal i.e., a new taste of God's tender mercies and love. That is our hope. And that hope is truly audacious. Happy New Year. Be Re-newed today!
