Subject:   Text Messages

Psalms 147:15 - "He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word runneth very swiftly."

My kids at the high school drive me crazy with these new-fangled cell phones.  The latest fad or perhaps the greatest thing to them is their ability to send text messages.  Often they will send a text message rather than talk to someone on the phone or in person.  They sometimes even use it to pass test answers and to take videos and then send the pictures to other people or to the world wide web.  Of course all of that is in spite of the fact that they aren't even supposed to use the phones during the school day.  I like technology, but I'm not into text messaging and I ensured that my wife had it disconnected on our phones so that we couldn't receive or send any.

Although we think text messaging is a new thing, it really isn't.  God created text messaging.  He didn't need machines to do it either.  His word began before we existed and it was by His word that He created all things.  That same word can go straight to our hearts and as the verse above says, His word "runs swiftly."  God sent the ultimate text message when He created the bible and today He is sending us a text message that says, "read the text message I sent you."  Read His word today.
