Subject: Wings To Fly
Psalms 55:6 - "And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest."
Give them wings. I use that expression often when talking about parents and their response to why their children don't seem to want to leave home. I've noticed that our culture has a mentality to "kick them out at 18." That's not necessarily a bad thing, but the reason the "kicking" often doesn't work is because the children don't feel empowered. How do they get empowered? Well it starts early.
Ever heard the story of the eagle and her young? To teach the young eagles to fly, they kick them out of the nest and prior to them learning, they swoop down to rescue them. Eventually they catch the wind the right way and they fly. That's what we need to do with our children.
God does the same thing with us. He is always there to catch us, but many of us catch the breeze and learn to fly early. Today be patient with your children or your students or whomever God has given you to teach, tutor or mentor. When the time comes, if you've prepared them, they will fly like an eagle. You job is to give them wings.
